Australia is Leading the Way in Eco Friendly Coffee Solutions

It has been said, time and again over the last few years, when it comes to ‘best’ coffee, Australia is number in the world. So it should come as no surprise, the Aussie’s are leading the way in eco friendly coffee solutions. From compostable bio degradable single use coffee cups, to reusable, recyclable, and chip-resistant ceramic mugs made entirely from discarded coffee husk — Meet Sydney’s HuskeeCup, “Waste Made beautiful”

This beautifully designed cup is a byproduct of the milling stage of java production that has scant economic value. The project sprang to life after 1,023 backers pledged AU$ 113,508 to help bring the cups to life.

The average coffee drinker is said to be responsible for the annual production of some 6.6 pounds of husk waste. According to Huskee, the Australian company that developed the cup, worldwide this translates to more than 1.35 million tons of husk waste every year.

Have you used this cup, are there more uses for food waste that can be translated into reusable products?
